These 3 tools are all I use/need.

CONTENT:

1. VTF-Explorer v1.12

Tool to browse and extract files like textures, skins and models from out the .gcf files.

2. VTF-Tool v0.5beta

Tool to convert images/textures from TGA to VTF format and from VTF to TGA tool.

3. Pakrat

Tool to add all custom files like textures, models, skins and script files etc. to your complete compiled BSP file.

Might I add some?

GCFScape v1.4.1

Another Browser to browse and export the content from the .gcf files.

VTFLib

A program to view .vtf files and generate/edit there .vmt files.

VTF Plug-In

A Plug-In for Adobe Photoshop 6.0 and up. It lets you open .vtf files in Photoshop and, more important, it lets you save pictures as the .vtf format.

PakRat

A very useful and easy to use GUI version of BSPzip. It scans for custom content used on the map and adds it for you.
Requires Java Runtime Environment 1.5.0 to work.

These are the tools I'm using, I hope you guys get some use out of them.
