TDM_[RMS_TITANIC]_[1912]

I realy like the ship Titanic and the looks of it that along with the story that belongs to it.
I just had to create it!
Well, at least I had to give it a try.

The first screenshot of it in very early development shown here:

I was pretty amazed with the things I could create at that time with the new source engine of HalfLife2 compared to Halflife one.

First release: March 13th 2005 called dm_titanic at that time.
Because of that, its the worst Titanic map release of mine ever.
Because (unlike valve) I made it better with new updates.

I have a 1:400 plastic model kit of the Titanic from Revell and the James Cameron's Titanic DVD to get most of the details that I needed to create the map the way it is today.
At fist I didn't know how to use cutom textures, and now its complete becouse of the custom textures completly made by myself.

I'm still proudly to present to you: The Titanic map for HL2DM/TDM

you can download the map from the http://WWW.SMARTZENEGGER.NL site (download page)

Please note, the water looks best with command: "mat_dxlevel 80" give it a try and see the differance.
You will notice that the water is actualy moving now, but becouse of the HDR update valve released at 23 september 2005 you might experiance poor performance in DX-level 8.0!

There is also a secret in this map.
Becouse you cant see the whole ship when on it, you can sail around it with an airboat without using cheats.
Besides, cheats wont do you anygood, you need this secret system to see the whole ship to deactivate the object teleporter just above the water surface.

Here's how you do it:

In the wheelhouse behind the bridge, there are gray panels at the backwall. There is a hidden button on it.
Press it! You now have 60 seconds to press another button thats located on the front well deck.
Location:

The button is on the black cleat in the right bottom corner.

Press it, and you have a 5 minute time limit to do whatever you like with the airboat on the water surface.
If you want to get on the ship earlier than the 5 minutes, the just bail out.
You die, but everything will reset and be teleported back on deck.
Thats the way it workes.
Have fun with it!

The map is absoluty stunnning. I think it was in this map I chatted with smartzenegger for the first time too.
The details in the map is also truely amazing, I've never seen anything like it.
Sadly, the water doesn't move when I play it on my computer, but it's still a incredible map!
